22 teaching transformation projects were presented at the Public Conference “Galàxia aprenentatge” 2024

On May 29, 2024, the auditorium of the UPC Vèrtex hosted the Presentation Conference of the candidate projects for the “Galàxia Aprenentatge” 2024 grants. This initiative aims to support strategic projects that seek to transform the training and learning process at the UPC.

During the event, a total of 22 projects from various UPC centres and departments were presented. These projects offer innovative ideas that can contribute to the construction of a new teaching model for the university.

One of the key objectives addressed in the projects has been to improve the motivation and sense of belonging of the students. Initiatives have been highlighted that propose immersive learning modalities, based on projects and challenges, with close interaction with companies and social agents. These proposals seek to increase student motivation, reduce absenteeism, and strengthen the connection with society. Also presented were vertical and horizontal coordination mechanisms of the studies through integrated cases between different subjects, vertical projects, curricular challenges, and mixed student teams from different courses.

Some projects highlighted the importance of accompanying students in the initial phase of studies to reduce dropout, suggesting tutoring programs, individualized plans, and peer mentoring.

Finally, some innovations based on the introduction of digital technologies and the use of artificial intelligence as support tools for teachers and students in the teaching-learning process were also suggested.

The conference showed that the UPC community is firmly committed to improving teaching, reflecting common ideas about the direction the university’s teaching model should follow. The event was a space for collective reflection to define what profile of professionals we want to train and how to do it. The “Galàxia Aprenentatge” call will allow piloting some of these projects, thus promoting educational innovation and consolidating the will to become leaders in the field of teaching.
